About
Neil Rasmussen is a Canadian entrepreneur who has worked most of his career in the Steel Piping Industry. He graduated High School in 2002 and enrolled in Camosun College on Vancouver Island. Neil majored in Business Statistics and Applied Mathematics. Like most entrepreneurs, Neil then decided to leave school early to get started in his career. He took a job working for a National Wholesaler and quickly worked up to a Senior Executive position. He held that position for almost ten years when he decided to relocate to Alberta and took a job working for a Stainless-Steel company.

In March of 2003, Neil decided to open his own Steel Trading company to utilize his long relationships with his overseas vendors and local client base. In his first-year Sales reached 3.7 Million, followed up with years of 7.5 Million in 2004, 14.5 Million in 2005, 24 Million in 2006, 32 Million in 2007, and 45 Million in 2008. In August of 2008, Neil sold his company to a publicly-traded corporation called Bri-Chem Corporation. Neil continued with the company in a role as President. In 2011 made a deal with an overseas Vendor to work together in a JV Partnership to set up a manufacturing facility in Edmonton, now known as Bri-Steel Manufacturing. Bri-Chem wasn’t prepared for the cashflow requirements to run and operate a manufacturing facility, so in 2014 they divested the Steel business to a private company out of Houston, Texas.

Bri-Steel is profitable and accepted at significant oil and gas companies in the world. They are the leader of their space in the marketplace. Neil’s team designed the APP “Pipe Tools” for industry people to use, which has now been downloaded over 100,000 times in 22 countries. Neil is an advocate for Domestic Manufacturing. He has championed the cause of stopping steel pipe fabrication from being imported into Canada and the United States by working with CBSA/CITT and the Department Commerce in the USA. He has been a guest speaker at many conferences in Canada and the USA regarding this issue. Neil is also a re-occurring guest on BNN Bloomberg as a Canadian steel expert.
Neil brought a new manufacturing facility back to Canada and pledges to make more in the future and help re-generate this industry in North America.
